MAG 5100 W: sensor for water and wastewater
According to Siemens catalogue FI 01 (updated 03/2024), the MAG 5100 W is designed for ground water, drinking water, wastewater, sewage and sludge; it measures by Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. Main features:
- Sizes DN15 to DN2000 (1/2 in. to 80 in.); coned sensor for DN15 to DN300, full bore from DN350.
- EPDM liner (with drinking water approvals) or NBR; Hastelloy C276 measuring and grounding electrodes; carbon steel ASTM A 105 housing and flanges with a corrosion-resistant coating of category C4 or C5.
- Medium temperature -10 to +70 °C (EPDM version per MI-001: 0.1 to 30 °C).
- IP67 (NEMA 6) as standard, IP68 (NEMA 6P) optional; suitable for direct burial and constant flooding.
- Flanges to EN 1092-1, ANSI B16.5 Class 150, AWWA C-207, AS 4087 and JIS B 2220.
- Qualified for operation with no straight inlet or outlet run (0 x DN); SENSORPROM uploads calibration values automatically at commissioning.
Transmitters and communication
The complete flow meter is a sensor plus a SITRANS FM MAG 5000, MAG 6000, MAG 6000 I or MAG 6000 CT (for custody transfer) transmitter, compact or remote. Transmitter supply is 11 to 30 VDC / 11 to 24 VAC or 115 to 230 VAC (MAG 6000 I: 18 to 90 VDC or 115 to 230 VAC). Communication: HART; PROFIBUS PA / DP, Modbus RTU / RS-485 and FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 (only with MAG 6000 / 6000 I).

- Drinking water: WRAS, NSF/ANSI 61, ACS, DVGW W270, Belgaqua, AS/NZS 4020 (EPDM liner).
- Cold water custody transfer: MI-001 (DN50 to DN2000), Kiwa, PTB K 7.2; FM Fire Service Meter; DNV for marine.
- Applications: water abstraction, water treatment, distribution networks, irrigation, wastewater treatment, filtration (RO, ultrafiltration) and industrial water.
