PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TECOFI Mechanical Float Valve

A float valve has 2 main parts:

  • The valve body, made of brass or stainless steel depending on the service. The body includes the valve stem, valve disc and crank
  • The float ball, made of plastic or stainless steel, linked to the valve body by a lever arm and crank

Figure: Construction of the Tecofi mechanical float valve

When the water level falls below the required level, the float drops. Through the lever arm and crank it pulls the stem and draws the disc off the outlet seat, and water flows into the tank. When the water reaches the required level, the float rises and, through the lever arm and crank, pushes the disc back onto the outlet seat, stopping the flow completely.

TECOFI float valves come with two connection types, threaded and flanged, depending on customer requirements. Flanged valves are typically used in industrial service, while threaded valves are used in smaller residential applications.

TECOFI offers 4 mechanical float valve lines:

  1. Threaded brass float valve
  2. Threaded stainless steel float valve
  3. Flanged angle-pattern steel float valve
  4. Flanged straight-pattern steel float valve

Choosing a TECOFI float valve

According to Tecofi’s 2026 catalogue, a float valve controls the maximum level in a tank or reservoir: it lets water in or stops the supply to prevent overflow. The range includes the following codes (see the separate RF1100 and RF6141 pages for size tables and order codes):

Code Type Materials Connection Working conditions
RF1100 + RFFLOT Low-pressure float valve Brass body and seat; PVC or copper float BSP male thread, DN10 to DN100 Maximum temperature +80 °C
RF6141 + RFIFLOT Low-pressure float valve Stainless steel 316 body, stem and float; silicone seal BSP male thread 16 bar; -60 to +200 °C (16 bar to +120 °C, 15 bar to +180 °C, 14 bar to +200 °C)
RF4240 Compensated, angle Ductile iron EN-GJS-400-15 epoxy coated body; stainless steel 304 disc and float; NBR seat Flanged PN16 (DN40 to DN150), PN10 (DN200 to DN300) 16 bar (DN40-150) or 10 bar (DN200-300); -10 to +120 °C
RF4241 Compensated, straight As RF4240 Flanged PN16 (DN40 to DN125), PN10 (DN150 and above) 16 bar or 10 bar; -10 to +120 °C

Compensated float valves are used for large sizes to reduce the float size needed. Note: the specification list on this page still shows the codes RF3240/RF3241 from older documents; the 2026 catalogue lists the flanged range as RF4240/RF4241, so tell CAD which code you are using and we will cross-check.

What to send for a quote

  • Size in DN and connection: BSP thread or flange (PN10/PN16).
  • Preferred material: brass, stainless steel 316 or ductile iron; float type.
  • Supply pressure at the valve, temperature and medium.
  • Mounting (straight or angle for the flanged range), tank size and the level range to hold.

CAD replies with a quote within 24 working hours of receiving the details.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about CAD-FL-121

Should I choose a threaded or a flanged float valve?

The threaded types (RF1100 brass, RF6141 stainless steel 316) suit small to medium sizes; the flanged compensated RF4240 and RF4241 are for larger sizes from DN40.

What is the difference between the brass and the stainless float valve?

RF1100 has a brass body, low pressure and a maximum temperature of +80 °C. RF6141 is stainless steel 316, working pressure 16 bar, usable from -60 to +200 °C (pressure drops as temperature rises: 16 bar to +120 °C, 15 bar to +180 °C, 14 bar to +200 °C).

What is a compensated float valve?

A float valve for large sizes with a force-compensating mechanism that reduces the float size needed compared with a standard float valve. Tecofi offers RF4240 (angle) and RF4241 (straight), ductile iron and flanged.

What do I need to send for a TECOFI float valve quote?

DN, connection type, material, supply pressure, temperature, medium and tank size. CAD replies within 24 working hours.
