Applications
BARTEC presents the EJB as an Ex d IIB+H2 flameproof enclosure for industrial plants with potentially explosive atmospheres. It can be used as a junction box, or as a control or distribution enclosure holding standard industrial components such as fuses, transformers, circuit breakers, relays and PLCs.
Construction and options
- Body and cover in copper-free aluminium alloy (0.1% copper); external powder coating RAL 9006; cover bolts in AISI 304 (A2) stainless steel; internal mounting plate in aluminium.
- Ingress protection IP66 (IEC/EN 60529). Maximum voltage 13 kV (AC) / 750 V (DC), maximum current 2000 A according to BARTEC.
- Options: a glass window in the cover to view the internal equipment (round or square), silicone O-ring gasket, drain and breather valves, internal anti-condensation paint.
- Hinged cover on the long side (standard) or the short side (optional). Impact resistance 7 J for metal parts, 2 J for the tempered glass window.
Standards and certification
- ATEX: Ex II 2 G Ex db IIA / IIB / IIB+H2 T6…T3; Ex II 2 D Ex tb IIIC T85°C…T200°C.
- IECEx: Ex db IIA / IIB / IIB+H2 T6, T5, T4 or T3 Gb and Ex tb variants for dust.

Is the EJB an Ex d or an Ex e enclosure?
The EJB is an Ex d (flameproof, Ex db) enclosure with Ex tb dust protection. Increased-safety Ex e junction boxes are a different BARTEC range; if you need Ex e, say so in your request so CAD can recommend the right range.
Which hazardous areas can the EJB be used in?
