FHF Explosion-Proof Hooter
The FHF mHP11, mHP12 and mHG11 are electromagnetic explosion-proof signalling hooters: mHP11/mHP12 for hazardous zones 1+2 in an IP 54 polycarbonate housing; mHG11 for zones 1+2 and 21+22 in an IP 66 aluminium housing, down to -55°C. About 108 dB(A) at 1 m (mHG11).

Choosing between mHP and mHG
- mHP11 and mHP12: gas hazardous zones 1 and 2, polycarbonate housing, IP 54, -20°C to +70°C.
- mHG11: gas zones 1 and 2 plus dust zones 21 and 22, aluminium housing, IP 66, -55°C to +70°C; a version with a trumpet (horn) is available.
- Choose the mHG11 where combustible dust is present or outdoors in wet or dusty conditions; where only gas is present and IP 54 is enough, choose the mHP11 or mHP12.
mHG11 certification and data (from the FHF manual)
- Stationary Group II, category 2 equipment: II 2 G Ex e mb IIC T5 Gb / T4 Gb (zones 1 and 2) and II 2 D Ex tb IIIC T90°C Db (dust).
- Sound pressure level about 108 dB(A) at 1 m distance; M20 x 1.5 cable entry.
- Complies with the EMC and low voltage directives (CE mark).
Installation and maintenance
- Mount vertically with the sound opening pointing downward.
- AC versions switch off through a temperature switch on overheating from excessively long continuous operation and restart automatically after cooling; DC versions regulate their energy electronically.
- The unit has no serviceable parts; clean it only with a damp cloth and carry out periodic explosion-protection checks per EN 60079-17. Sound adjustment is for a qualified person, outside the hazardous area.
Information to send for a quote
- The hooter type (mHP11, mHP12 or mHG11), voltage and current type (AC or DC), and quantity.
- The hazardous area: gas or dust zone, ambient temperature; whether a trumpet is needed (mHG11).

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about CAD-SF-450
How do the mHP11, mHP12 and mHG11 differ?
The mHP11 and mHP12 are for gas zones 1+2, with an IP 54 polycarbonate housing, -20°C to +70°C. The mHG11 is for zones 1+2 and dust zones 21+22, with an IP 66 aluminium housing, -55°C to +70°C. Choose by hazardous area and ambient conditions.
Can the hooter be used in combustible dust areas?
Only the mHG11 is certified for dust: II 2 D Ex tb IIIC T90°C Db, for zones 21 and 22. The mHP11 and mHP12 on this page are listed for gas zones 1+2 only.
How loud is it and how is it mounted?
FHF's manual for the mHG11 states a sound level of about 108 dB(A) at 1 m. Mount it vertically with the sound opening facing down; cable entry M20 x 1.5.
What should I send CAD to quote an FHF hooter?
Send the hooter type (mHP11, mHP12, mHG11), voltage and current type (AC/DC), the hazardous area (gas or dust zone), ambient temperature and quantity. CAD quotes within 24 working hours.
