PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Kromschröder BCU 370 Burner Control Unit

  • Modulation of forced air gas burners of unlimited capacity in intermittent or continuous operation
  • Control of fan and butterfly valves
  • Simple system set-up with optional tightness control and integrated ignition unit
  • Easy start-up and maintenance in manual operating mode
  • Enhanced flexibility and simplified logistics with programmable functions
  • Easy servicing with user-friendly operating, warning, and fault messages
  • Available with optional integral field bus interface for simple wiring
  • CSA and FM approved

How it works

The BCU 370 is used for forced draught burners ignited directly or via a pilot burner. It switches on the fan and moves the butterfly valve to the pre-purge and ignition positions; after pre-purge and burner start it issues the controller enable signal to an external controller, which positions the butterfly valve according to the capacity demand. Post-purge follows the end of burner operation. The BCU 370 monitors gas and air pressure, and optionally checks valve tightness with an external gas pressure switch.

Setup and operation

  • The quick-start option allows standard-compliant start-up without pre-purge after a controlled shut-down.
  • Programmed through the optical interface and the BCSoft PC software (PCO 200 opto-adapter); the number of start-up attempts and automatic restart can be set.
  • A Manual mode starts the burner and sets the butterfly valve position independently of the central control system; the program status, parameters and flame signal level can be read directly on the unit.
  • An optional PROFIBUS DP interface reduces wiring effort.

Standards and certification

  • European directives: Low Voltage 2014/35/EU, EMC 2014/30/EU, Gas Appliances Regulation (EU) 2016/426.
  • AGA (Australian Gas Association) approval no. 6880; FM Class 7611 suitable for NFPA 86; CSA (class numbers 3335-01 and 3335-81); UL listed to UL 372.

How to read the type code

The code comprises: BCU 370, mains voltage (Q = 120 V, W = 230 V), integrated ignition (I1/I2/I3, or none), F = fan control, E = valve control, U0/U1 = flame control, D1 = DGmax monitoring, D3 = integrated tightness control, B1 = PROFIBUS DP. Kromschröder’s example: BCU 370QI1FEU0D1. The required parameter settings must be stated when ordering.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about CAD-TH-202

How do BCU 370..W and BCU 370..Q differ?

They differ in mains voltage: BCU 370..W uses 230 V AC and BCU 370..Q uses 120 V AC (both 50/60 Hz). The rest (integrated ignition, fan/valve control, flame control, tightness control, PROFIBUS) is chosen by the following symbols in the code.

Which flame sensors can the BCU 370 use?

By the type code, U0 is ionization control (continuous operation) or UV control (intermittent operation with UVS); U1 is UV control for continuous operation with UVC 1. Accepted flame signal: ionization 1-28 µA, UV 1-35 µA.

Does the BCU 370 control the butterfly valve and the fan?

Yes. It controls the fan and drives the butterfly valve to the pre-purge and ignition positions, then hands capacity control to an external controller. It is for modulating forced draught gas burners of unlimited capacity.

What should I send CAD to quote a BCU 370?

Send the full code per the type code (for example BCU 370QI1FEU0D1) or the requirements: 120/230 V supply, integrated ignition, flame sensor type, tightness control, PROFIBUS, plus the parameter settings you need. CAD quotes within 24 working hours.
