PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Industrial gas burner for dryers, ovens and paint lines
The Maxon OVENPAK® 400 series is described by its manufacturer as the most flexible and reliable industrial burner in the world. OVENPAK® burns almost any clean gaseous fuel and needs only low-pressure fuel. It is a natural gas burner for clean, low-NOx combustion with outstanding turndown.
The burner is widely used in ovens and dryers, paint finishing lines, textile and paper machines, food ovens, coffee roasters, grain dryers and fume incinerators. The 400 series comes in more than 90 designs and sizes, including a built-in blower version and a low-cost remote-blower version (EB) that is easy to tune and service in the field.
The attached document is the installation and start-up guide for the Maxon OVENPAK® 400 / 200 burner (edition 4/98).
Construction and installation
- The standard Model 400 includes a combustion air blower with a non-sparking paddle-wheel impeller, a pilot, a spark ignitor, a stainless steel discharge sleeve, a mixing cone, self-contained internal air and gas proportioning valves, and provision for a flame safeguard sensor.
- The burner body is flanged and can be installed in any position that does not conflict with the control motor or flame detector; minimal torque requirements allow most electric or air operators. Maxon supplies optional connecting bases and linkage assemblies.
- Two basic versions: with an integral blower and the EB (external blower); the 400-MA / EB-MA versions use an external Micro-Ratio control valve to proportion air and gas.
Pre-assembled packages
Maxon also supplies packaged burner systems: the OVENPAK 400 with a pre-assembled, pre-wired pipe train (block and bleed arrangement) mounted on a heater/duct section (three duct sizes, five capacity options), with discharge air volumes up to 12,000 SCFM and discharge air temperatures up to 316°C (600°F).
Information to send for a quote
- The burner style and size (OVENPAK 400, EB, 400-MA/EB-MA model code), the required heat output and the supply voltage (50 or 60 Hz).
- The fuel gas type and supply pressure; the heating process (dryer, paint booth, line…).
- Requirements for the gas train, flame sensor (flame rod or UV), accompanying controls, and whether a pre-assembled package is needed.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about CAD-TH-210
How does the standard OVENPAK 400 differ from the EB version?
The standard version has an integral combustion air blower. The EB uses an external blower, which lowers cost and is easy to tune and service in the field.
What gas pressure does this burner need?
Maxon states the OVENPAK needs only low-pressure fuel gas and burns almost any clean fuel gas. The exact pressure per size is in the capacity tables of the Maxon catalogue; send the burner size so CAD can check it.
What equipment is the OVENPAK 400 used on?
Maxon lists ovens and dryers, paint finishing lines, textile and paper machines, food baking ovens, coffee roasters, grain dryers and fume incinerators.
What should I send CAD to quote an OVENPAK 400?
Send the model code or the required heat output, supply voltage, gas type and pressure, flame sensor type and gas train requirements. CAD quotes within 24 working hours.
