PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Honeywell C7024E1001 UV Flame Detector

Features:

  • Solid-state electronics provide low power consumption and high reliability.
  • The detector can be mounted horizontally, vertically or at any angle in between. Self-checking models require surface alignment and have built-in locating reference points to ensure correct operation of the shutter mechanism.
  • The UV sensing tube and quartz viewing window are field-replaceable.
  • Threaded conduit fitting and color-coded leadwires allow fast electrical installation.
  • Two detectors can be wired in parallel to reduce nuisance shutdowns in applications where the flame is difficult to sight.
  • A swivel mount is available to make flame sighting easier.
  • Rated to -40°F (-40°C).
  • Incorporates a UV sensing tube checking feature, used with the Honeywell R7824C Dynamic Self-Check flame signal amplifier.
  • An oscillating shutter interrupts the UV radiation reaching the UV sensor 12 times per minute to provide UV sensor checking. The amplifier circuit components are checked by the microcomputer in the RM7824.
  • Protective heat block built into the mounting flange.
  • High-pressure quartz viewing window (50 psi [345 kPa]), focusing lens and vibration-resistant mounting accessories available.

Specifications:

  • C7024E Solid State Self-Checking Purple Peeper UV Detector: for use with the R7824C Dynamic Self-Check Amplifier
  • Voltage: 24 Vdc.
  • Power consumption: 7.8 watts maximum
  • Housing: Purple cast aluminum housing; mounting flange with heat block and faceplate separated to provide heat insulation and sealoff. Meets NEMA 4 enclosure requirements (indoor and outdoor protection; rainproof, dust-tight, hose-directed water). Optional water jacket available for the C7024E
  • Pressure rating: 20 psi (138 kPa). Focusing lens (rated 20 psi [138 kPa]) or high-pressure viewing window (rated 50 psi [345 kPa]) available
  • Flange mounting with 3/4 inch NPT internal threads to attach to the sight pipe
  • Connections: NEC Class 1 color-coded leadwires, 8 feet (2.4 meters) long
  • Number of leadwires: Six.
  • Threaded leadwire opening in faceplate: 1/2-14 NPSM or 7/8-20 UNSM internal threads for conduit attachment.
  • Weight: Approximately 4.25 pounds (1.9 kg)

Compatibility and self-checking principle

The C7024E is used with Honeywell’s R7824C dynamic self-checking amplifier; the amplifier circuit components are checked by the microprocessor in the RM7824 relay module. An oscillating shutter interrupts the ultraviolet radiation reaching the sensor tube 12 times per minute to test the UV tube. This is the 24 Vdc solid-state “Purple Peeper” sensor.

Installation

  • Mount horizontally, vertically or at any angle in between; the self-checking models need surface alignment to the built-in reference points so the shutter mechanism works correctly.
  • The UV sensor tube and the quartz viewing window are field replaceable.
  • 3/4 in. NPT female thread for mounting on a sight pipe; faceplate conduit opening 1/2-14 NPSM or 7/8-20 UNSM; colour-coded NEC Class 1 leads, six conductors, 8 ft (2.4 m) long.
  • Two detectors can be wired in parallel to reduce nuisance shutdowns where the flame is hard to see; a swivel mount is available to aim the view.
  • A protective heat block is built into the mounting flange; options include a high-pressure quartz window (50 psi / 345 kPa), a focusing lens, vibration-proof mounting accessories and a water jacket.

What to send for a quote

  • Fuel and burner type (natural gas, LP gas, oil).
  • The amplifier and relay module in use (R7824C, RM7824) so compatibility can be checked.
  • Sight pipe length and type; whether you need a high-pressure quartz window, focusing lens, swivel mount or water jacket.
  • Ambient temperature at the mounting point and quantity.

CAD replies with a quote within 24 working hours of receiving the details.
