PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Maxon Series 67 TUBE-O-FLAME Immersion Tube Burner

MAXON’s TUBE-O-FLAME® industrial burner delivers clean, low-NOx heat for tube firing. TUBE-O-FLAME® burns most fuel gases inside a tube bank, reducing fuel consumption and improving process response. Low horsepower requirements cut operating costs and produce clean combustion with outstanding reliability.

  • Burns clean, low-pressure gaseous fuels
  • 20:1 turndown capability
  • Easy installation with a compact flange design
  • Simple start-up and adjustment
  • Lower initial and operating costs
  • Heat output 5,000,000 Btu/hour
  • More than 36 designs and sizes
  • 20:1 turndown ratio
  • Optional 2-position Hi/Lo control motor
  • Cost-saving remote-blower version (LB)
  • Blower motor voltage (V/phase/Hz): 115/208-230/1/60; 208-230/460/3/60; 575/3/60; 190-200/3/50; 380-415/3/50; 500/3/50

Construction

  • The standard package includes a combustion air blower with a non-sparking aluminium paddle-wheel impeller, a pilot and spark ignitor in the cast iron burner body, a ductile iron mixing disc, internally connected air and gas valves, a gas nozzle, and provision for a flame safeguard sensor.
  • The LB (less blower) version uses an external combustion air supply. The flanged burner body simplifies mounting; minimal torque requirements allow virtually any electric or air operator, and Maxon supplies connecting bases and linkages for most temperature control operators.

Immersion tube design and installation

  • The tube should be Schedule 40 pipe or lighter in the same size as the burner; the first straight pass should be at least 10 pipe diameters long and not end in a single-mitre elbow. Burner performance can be drastically affected by the tube configuration.
  • The burner can be mounted straight through the tank wall or angled downward. If more than one pipe diameter of tube length is not solution-backed, overheating and deterioration of the tube may occur.
  • Overall efficiency depends mainly on tube length; typical installations run at 70-75%, and above 85% there is a risk of condensation-caused tube damage. Exhaust is normally vented outdoors, with adequate make-up air and an exhaust stack damper suitable for 1000°F (538°C) that cannot fully close.

Applications

Maxon lists dip tanks, spray washers, pickling or quench tanks, dye becks, salt baths, asphalt kettles, indirect air heaters and bakery ovens.

Information to send for a quote

  • The burner model (6-08, 8-15, 10-25, 10-30, 12-38, 14-50) and whether it has a blower or is LB.
  • Blower motor voltage, phase and frequency; fuel gas type and supply pressure.
  • Immersion tube diameter and length, the liquid to be heated, the control (hi/lo) and the flame sensor.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about CAD-TH-213

How does the Series 67 differ from the OVENPAK 400?

The TUBE-O-FLAME Series 67 is a refractory-less burner built to fire into an immersion tube in solution tanks, 20:1 turndown, up to 5,000,000 Btu/h. The OVENPAK 400 is an air-heating burner for ovens and dryers with 40:1 turndown and up to 16,500,000 Btu/h.

How do I choose between models 6-08 and 14-50?

By the capacity required: 6-08 up to 800,000, 8-15 up to 1,500,000, 10-25 up to 2,500,000, 10-30 up to 3,000,000, 12-38 up to 3,800,000 and 14-50 up to 5,000,000 Btu/h. The immersion tube must be the same size as the burner.

How should the immersion tube be designed?

Schedule 40 pipe or lighter in the burner size, first straight pass at least 10 diameters long, avoiding single-mitre elbows; the tube must be fully submerged in the solution.

What should I send CAD to quote a Series 67?

Send the burner model, blower or LB, motor voltage, gas type, immersion tube details and the liquid to be heated. CAD quotes within 24 working hours.
