System structure
According to the manufacturer, every Touchpoint Pro system is built from four blocks: a central controller with a colour touch screen, plug-in input/output modules, a backplane power and communications rail, and plug-in power supplies. They mount in cabinets or racks and can be mixed freely, so centralised, distributed (remote I/O) or mixed topologies are all possible.
- Input modules: 4-20 mA analog, mV-bridge analog (catalytic flammable sensors) and digital; output modules: relay.
- The backplane rail holds 5, 7, 9 or 10 modules depending on the power supply and enclosure version.
- 24 Vdc power supplies of 120 W, 240 W or 480 W; a redundancy module and a UPS module that charges a back-up battery.
- The ring network has two loops transmitting in opposite directions (Ring A and Ring B) and is self-healing: a failed module is detected and located without affecting the rest of the system.
Integration and interfaces
- The controller carries a Honeywell Analytics sensor catalogue for quick channel set-up; a PC can connect over Ethernet, with optional configuration software.
- Web server when networked: view status and event history, acknowledge, reset or inhibit channels; not for configuration or calibration.
- Optional redundant control centre board (CCB) that takes over if the master fails; optional Modbus RTU interface board with dual redundant RS-485.
- Compatible with most third-party flame detectors, gas detectors and manual call points.
Functional safety
The manufacturer states that Touchpoint Pro is designed to meet SIL 2 requirements (IEC/EN 61508), with its engineering process and components independently verified.
What to send for a quote
- Number of input channels by type (4-20 mA, mV-bridge, digital) and the detectors planned.
- Number of output relays and the logic to control (sounders, beacons, valve shutdown, fans).
- Mounting: wall cabinet, 19 in. rack or floor-standing cabinet; whether remote I/O is used.
- Power supply rating, UPS and battery; need for the redundant board and Modbus RTU.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about CAD-SF-420
How many channels can Touchpoint Pro connect?
Up to 16 input modules (64 channels) and 32 output modules (128 channels).
Which detectors can Touchpoint Pro take signals from?
4-20 mA flammable and toxic gas detectors, mV-bridge catalytic sensors and digital signals (flame detectors, call points); it is compatible with most third-party detectors.
Does the system offer redundancy?
Yes: a self-healing ring network, an optional redundant control centre board (CCB), a power supply redundancy module and a UPS module.
Can it be viewed remotely over a network?
Yes, through the web server when networked: view status and event history, acknowledge, reset and inhibit channels. Configuration and calibration are not done over the web.
What do I need to send for a Touchpoint Pro quote?
Channel counts by signal type, number of output relays, enclosure type, power supply and UPS, and redundancy. CAD replies within 24 working hours.
